Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports on the “relatively quiet” lineup for the iPhone 4S at New York City’s 5th Avenue store:
“We counted 330 at this store for the launch of the iPhone 3GS, 500-600 for the launch of the original iPad and nearly 1,200 for the iPad 2.”
We found a similar crowd at that store. Before the nay-sayers use this as evidence of a lukewarm launch, let’s remember that Apple offered no pre-orders for the iPad 2. Plus, iPhone 4S pre-orders went extremely well. The best in the company’s history, in fact, with one million sold within the first 24 hours.
